The NET Research Foundation (NETRF) is the leading non-profit organization to support neuroendocrine tumor (NET) research. Our mission is to accelerate scientific discovery that will help create new and more effective therapies for NETs. Each year we seek and fund the most promising basic, translational and clinical research proposals, with the potential to change our understanding of NETs and to accelerate the development of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for our patients. This year we encourage applications by multidisciplinary groups–combining not only expertise in basic, translational, or clinical research, but also biotechnology, bioinformatics or other disciplines–as we believe that the most effective way to tackle our limited understanding of what drives the development of NETs, and the scarce experimental models available to us today, is to bring together diverse experts able to attack the problem from many different fronts, and to bypass existing experimental limitations. Proposals which cover promising and potentially transferable mechanisms and/or technologies that have been applied successfully to other areas of cancer research are encouraged and will be evaluated based on their level of applicability to NETs.
We have a strong commitment to promoting collaboration and resource sharing amongst our funded researchers and the community, both of which are evident during our Annual Research Symposium, where a “Who’s Who” in NET research is presenting or attending. We aggressively seek to fund research that breaks barriers and opens new frontiers, and we tirelessly work to create a more diversified and groundbreaking research portfolio. Our mission is to one day have a cure for carcinoid, pancreatic, and other related neuroendocrine cancers.
